Shakespeare in Gloucester Festival

The longest running Shakespeare festival in NSW!

The Shakespeare in Gloucester Festival is a community-built event created to entertain regional audiences with the themes of universal human values found in Shakespeare’s works. Gloucester’s annual cultural festival celebrating the world’s favourite playwright was the first of its kind in New South Wales and is the longest running festival of Shakespeare in the state. In 2013 see the world-wide Shakespeare favourite Romeo and Juliet by Newcastle’s acclaimed Tantrum Theatre, plus special performances by the local GACCI Players and schools from across the state. An Elizabethan Faire and Farmers Market will turn Billabong Park into a bustling village green with a treasure trove of locally grown produce, live poultry and wines plus a dazzling array of unique merchandise and craft demonstrations. Add to this all the performance artists, jousting displays and other medieval entertainment and you’ve got the perfect script for an event that would be sure to put a smile on Shakespeare’s face.
